The final round of the North Carolina Championship Series was held July 3 in King, N.C., at the KingRC Raceway. With beautiful weather and a crowd of over 100 racers, the race was assured to be a good one.
The tight, technical track was dominated by the local talent during the 3 rounds of qualifying. Pro Buggy TQ was taken by Pace, with Hepler and Pettit close behind. Truggy TQ was Hepler, followed by Pettit and Cooper. The Truggy main was first with 25 minutes of fast paced action. Pettit took the lead before the end of the first lap a never looked back. In the Pro Buggy class the lead was also taken by Pettit before the end of the first lap, as he carried on to win the 25 minute main.
The Sportsman Buggy class was dominated by young John McGinty. John battled with cose competition and came out on top.
This was the final round of the NC Championship Series and capped off the final points to give the overall championship to Pettit in both Pro Buggy and Pro Truggy. John McGinty Jr. took the top Sportsman place wit John Sr. finishing 2nd overall in Truggy.
The Mugen MBX6 and MBXT were dominate throughout the entire series. The Pro and Sportsman buggy classes both had top podium finishes in 5 of the 6 races. The MBX6T was 6 for 6 in the Truggy class and ended the series with all 3 podium finishes won by Mugen.
This was the final round of the NC Championship Series and capped off the final points to give the overall championship to Pettit in both Pro Buggy and Pro Truggy.
